Radical Joy &
Mental Health series
What is RJMH?
RJMH invites participants to engage in an interactive cultural experience in addition to wellness and art practices for sustainable joy and mental well-being.
We organize gatherings where discussions and wellness informed arts activities centering QTBIPoC.
Black Joy and Mental Health ( now called Radical Joy and Mental Health are inspired by a successful past event I organized with two Black Queer collectives at The Museum of Women’s Resistance in Brooklyn, NY on March 24th, 2019.
I co-created an event with Black Trans and Gender Non-Conforming people at The Museum of Women's Resistance called Black Joy and Mental Health. Our event sold out and our guests requested a follow-up event.
We also secured 4 sponsorships from 2 Black TGNC grassroots groups, the museum, and a local wellness center. The purpose of this event was to offer healing, food, and conversation. The conversation orbited mental health and what black joy means over a pot-luck style meal.
In 2020, RJMH strives to organize 2-3 events at venues for marginalized communities. RJMH invites participants to engage in an interactive cultural experience in addition to wellness and art practices for sustainable joy and mental well-being. It is a discussion on social justice and mental health over a communal dinner centering BIPoC/WoC especially Queer folks.
